despite the forecast for a tempestuous storm with high winds and snow, a closely-knit band of purple crocus crowd together to stand straight and tall in defiance of what we hope to be the final remnants of winter.
the contour of the female cardinal is unmistakable and confirms my recognition of the high pitched chatter that is occupying the junipers alongside the house. spring waits for no one!
a robin waits on the backyard stockade slats of redwood for the final affirmation of spring. this morning, i hear chirps in the junipers near the house…i suspect a cardinal family is moving in without concern for the neighborhood comps.
