fifty cents for your soul

American iconic culture bedecks some of the most unexpected places. Fluorescent Warhol-esque windowpanes of Marilyn almost obscenely clash with the sedate, enduring wrought iron balcony on a quiet back street in Piemonte, Italy. And I wonder, how the phantom popularity of today reconciles with the foundations of civilizations which, unless presented in 3D or High Def or Blue Ray, may wither in comparison to the staged fanfare.
